Academic Data Warehouse Access
Access to the Boston University Academic Data Warehouse (ADW) is granted by data trustees based on business need for each data area.

| Undergraduate Admissions | Enrollment & Student Administration | Director of Admissions, Deans, or any position that functions (formally or informally) as a ‘data administrator’ in an undergraduate school/college. |
| Graduate Admissions | Graduate Affairs | Director of Admissions, Deans, or any position that functions (formally or informally) as a ‘data administrator’ in a graduate school/college. Access granted per school/college. |
| Student Enrollment | Enrollment & Student Administration | Deans, Program Directors, Administrators, or any position that entails reporting or analysis of student data. |
| Financial Aid | Enrollment & Student Administration | Deans, administrators, and others who report on or analyze their students’ aggregate financial aid, population trends, and enrollment alongside aid. |
| Financial Aid Executive | Enrollment & Student Administration | Financial Aid Administrators and others who need individual student award-level detail. Includes access to the Financial Aid data area. |
| Faculty | Faculty Affairs | Deans, Department Chairs, Faculty Actions Mangers, Department Administrators, or any position with responsibilities for the management of faculty teaching and/or personnel data. |
Financial aid access is granted at two levels — Financial Aid and Financial Aid Executive. Please indicate which level you are requesting on the access request form. Everyone granted Financial Aid Executive access also receives Financial Aid access.
Access requires approval by your manager or supervisor, review of the information below, and completion of the Academic Data Warehouse Access Request form . Please discuss with your manager your business need for ADW access, as well as the types of data to which you need access.
Getting Started
Please ensure you have completed all the steps below before submitting your request for access.
- Access to the Academic Data Warehouse requires a BU Login and Kerberos password. If you do not already have a BU Login, request one through your manager/supervisor or data security administrator.
- In order to gain access to student related data:
- Review the Protection of Personal Information Act (MASS Law 201 CMR 17.00) and Information Security Policy.
- It is mandatory that all users review the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act – FERPA, complete the FERPA Non-Disclosure Agreement and include the completed FERPA agreement when submitting the ADW Access Request Form.
- Access to the Academic Data Warehouse provides a user within the University to significant amounts of institutional data, some of which is confidential. Please review the following policy documents:
- These two steps should be initiated in parallel:
- Fill in and submit the Academic Warehouse Access Request form.
- You will be contacted regarding training once processing of your request has begun.
- You will be notified when access has been granted.
