As chair of the Climate Action Plan Task Force, Anthony Janetos was instrumental to the development of Boston University's Climate Action Plan. He was a beloved member of the BU community, who was known for his caring, supportive, and humble nature.

Professor Janetos joined Boston University in May 2013 as director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future and professor of Earth and environment. In 2018, he was appointed chair of that department.

Previously, Professor Janetos served as director of the Joint Global Change Research Institute at the University of Maryland, where for six years he oversaw an interdisciplinary team of natural scientists, engineers, and social scientists committed to understanding the problems of global climate change and their potential solutions.

Professor Janetos devoted his career to high-impact, global-change science and policy. He earned international recognition for his scholarship and held executive leadership positions at numerous institutions.
