Interns are key to helping to implement the University’s Climate Action Plan and build a strong culture of sustainability. Get ready to roll up your sleeves: our interns work on challenging and important projects and programs.
Engagement Internship
- Semester Hours: 10-12 hours/week
- Responsibilities
- Help oversee engagement with the Environmental Leadership Network (which brings together all the clubs at BU that do sustainability/environmental work), including crafting newsletters, connecting via Facebook and Slack, planning and hosting meetings, and brainstorming new ways to engage.
- Help desk: 2-3 hours per week tabling at the GSU to promote programs and opportunities from our office, listen to ideas and concerns from our BU community, and help educate on different topics.
- General support the Engagement Manager, including tracking engagement and helping with program development.
- Preference is given to long-term candidates interested in working through Spring 2022.
Communications Internship
- Semester Hours: 10-20 hours/week
- Responsibilities
- Work with internal communications tools such as SharePoint, Sprinklr, Slack, Canva, Photoshelter.
- Generate and share engaging social media content across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms as necessary.
- Manage BU Sustainability email account: Field inquiries and communicate with the community on behalf of our office.
- Face-to-face community engagement through occasional on-campus events.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of content for BU Sustainability’s website: Troubleshooting, analysis of website analytics, and copywriting.
- Comply with university branding.
- Desired Skills
- Excellent written, visual, and oral communication skills, including presentation of data.
- Familiarity with WordPress or a similar website management tool.
- Experience with social media platforms.
- Experience with graphic design a plus.
- Priority will go to sophomores and students who can commit to a minimum of one year.
