Ph.D Candidate Mia Diaz-Edelman was recently awarded the Eastern Sociological Society’s Travel Grant to attend their 2012 Annual Meeting. She will be presenting her paper titled, ” Anchoring Narratives: Multicultural Collaboration in the Immigrant Rights Movement”.

Ph.D. Candidate Courtney L. Feldscher’s dissertation research concerning intra-organizational conflict in homeowners’ associations was featured as a two-part series of articles in the January 2012 and February 2012 editions of Condo Media magazine. Condo Media magazine is the official publication of the New England Chapter of the Community Associations Institute.

Graduate student Meghan Stiman has been selected as the Outstanding Teaching Fellow in Sociology for 2010-2011. Faculty chose Meaghan for her strong teaching values and performance. Meaghan will be awarded on May 6th at a reception held at the College of Arts and Sciences, along with other CAS departmental award recipients.
Alumnus Roman Williams Joins Institute for International and Intercultural Studies at Union University
Roman R. Williams (PhD 2010) is an Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Institute for International and Intercultural Studies at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.
AMY MOFF HUDEC AT THINKING GENDER CONFERENCE
On February 11, 2011, graduate student Amy Moff Hudec, along with colleague Courtney Irby of Loyal University Chicago, presented their paper, “Practicing Purity Under Pressure: Chastity Maintenance Among Unmarried Latter-day Saint and Evangelical Women” at the Thinking Gender conference at UCLA. Hudec is currently in Utah working on her dissertation research.
