Qiong is broadly interested in public health, historical sociology, and colonial studies. Her current work examines the Qing dynasty’s epidemic policy during the Manchurian Plague (1910–1911). She earned a B.M. in Clinical Medicine from Zhejiang University, during which she worked as a intern doctor at affiliated hospitals for two years and developed her interest in sociology.
