Sexualities scholar and bi+ activist, Jace N. Ríos Rivera is a current Sociology PhD student, and holds a graduate degree in Women Gender and Sexuality Studies from the University at Albany. With a BA in Sociology from the University of Puerto Rico, they bring decolonial perspectives into sexuality research, focusing on how identity categories are created, adopted, and transformed. Their work focuses on bisexuality as both a sexual orientation and theoretical framework, as well as the factors that influence plurisexual individuals’ choice of label.
They have presented their work on bisexuality as a theoretical lens at multiple conferences, and have been studying bisexuality since 2019. Currently, they co-host Bisexual Killjoy podcast as their primary effort to make research findings and theoretical discussions accessible to the general public. They hope to continue their research on bisexuality throughout their career, while also exploring non-monogamous relationships, identity formation, and gender expression/practice.
