Carmen Rowe entered the PhD program in Fall 2014. She has a BA in sociology with an undergraduate certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality studies from Florida Atlantic University. Her dissertation project examines outcomes and experiences for women working as farmers, and the degree to which different organizational contexts and supports, as well as workplace dynamics, help or hinder women’s success in farming. She has previously conducted research on sugar baby-sugar daddy exchanges and worked on a project examining climate change messaging in the Southeast Florida region. More broadly, her research interests include intersectional gender studies, economic sociology, occupations and organizations, families, sexualities, and environmental sociology.
