Curriculum Vitae

Max A. Greenberg is a qualitative researcher with a focus on gender, interpersonal violence, social policy and youth. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology and a Graduate Certificate in Gender Studies from the University of Southern California in 2015.

His current book project draws on four years of ethnographic research in violence prevention programs across Los Angeles to explore how at-risk youth experience the social programs intended to change their lives. His previous book, Some Men: Feminist Allies and the Movement to End Violence Against Women, co-authored with Michael Messner and Tal Peretz, is a study of men’s engagement with anti-violence across three generational cohorts. It was recently awarded the Pacific Sociological Association’s Distinguished Scholarship Award.
