DPT and OTD Students Selected for the Travis Roy Scholarships

On Friday, July 25, Dean Dennerlein announced the recipients of the inaugural Travis Roy Scholarships, courtesy of the Travis Roy Foundation.

The Foundation has given $1 million to Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences to create the Travis M. Roy Endowed Scholarship Fund, which will provide annual scholarships, starting with the 2024–25 academic year, to one or more graduate students studying occupational or physical therapy at the College.

This year’s recipients, two Sargent College graduate students in the Entry Level Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) program and the Doctoral of Physical Therapy (DPT) program respectively, are:

This scholarship requires the students to work together to develop a self-directed learning plan regarding spinal cord injury rehabilitation spanning the academic year.

This plan should foster a deeper commitment to the field of spinal cord injury rehabilitation, an appreciation of the lived experience and how to enhance the quality of life of people after spinal cord injury.

The scholarship also requires that they deliver a College-wide presentation at the end of the year (May 2026) about their experiences and findings from the self-study. Once we have a date for their presentation, we will announce it across Sargent College’s website and media platforms.
