Professor Julie Starr Delivers APTA Linda Crane Memorial Lecture, 2/18

FullSizeRender(1)Clinical Associate Professor of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training Julie Starr will deliver The Linda Crane Memorial Lecture at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Combined Sections Meeting in Anaheim, California on February 18. Her lecture, “The Science of Healing. The Art of Caring” will reflect on these ideals in the context of the 2013 Boston Marathon.

Starr is the recipient of the prestigious Linda Crane Memorial Lecture Award which recognizes an APTA member who has demonstrated excellence in research and/or clinical or academic practice.

This award acknowledges an individual who has made outstanding and enduring contributions to the practice of physical therapy as exemplified in the professional career of Dr. Linda Crane. Crane was a dedicated member of the physical therapy profession since 1970 and was one of the first three APTA board certified clinical specialists in cardiopulmonary physical therapy. She is credited with helping to create a significant part of the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section’s history.

Starr’s scholarly interests include acute care physical therapy, cardiovascular and pulmonary care, especially cardiac surgical outcomes, chronic lung disease treatment, and the epidemiology of worldwide lung diseases.

She has previously been honored for teaching excellence by Boston University and has served as a Delegate at Large for the Massachusetts Chapter of the APTA.
