To Peru, for a Cause

In summer 2015, 14 undergraduate and graduate Sargent students embarked on a service learning trip to Peru. At an altitude of 11,000 feet, they experienced firsthand the traditional Andean way of life, from a remote farming village to the Inca capital of Cusco.

Supervised by Sargent faculty, the students learned about Peru’s traditional medicine and the country’s transition to modern health care. The students learned about sustainable agriculture, cuisine in the sierra, and traditional medicine, and conducted health and hygiene workshops.
