Sargent College Staff Council

The Staff Council at Sargent College shall be comprised of a diverse, representative group of staff from a variety of administrative units, academic departments, clinics, and research laboratories.

Sargent’s Staff Council invites input from our community, and Sargent staff are encouraged to reach out to the representatives anytime with questions or comments.

Mission Statement

The goal of Sargent College’s Staff Council is to promote the conditions that allow the staff to thrive.  Its mission is to:

  • Represent staff interests and concerns to the college leadership and foster a culture of transparency and mutual respect.
  • Provide a platform for staff to voice opinions and suggestions.
  • Create a community for staff to network within the college.
  • Build a positive and inclusive campus environment.  Promote Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives for staff at the college.
  • Promote recognition and appreciation of staff via awards, honors and opportunities to celebrate our community.
  • Build and develop an engaged community and enhance the staff experience at the college through various programs, initiatives, and events.

What activities will the Sargent Staff Council engage in?

  • Meet regularly to represent staff perspectives as part of the college’s decision-making processes.
  • Provide feedback on workplace culture within the college.
  • Establish committees or working groups to sponsor events and activities with the goal of continuously improving communications, engagement, workplace culture, and staff morale.
  • Collaborate across university and college departments and units to create networking opportunities for staff across the college’s community; and
  • Provide a supportive network to collaborate with the dean’s office in communicating and achieving its goals.
  • Recommend staff members to serve on college and university committees.
  • Advise leadership on advancing goals for diversity, equity and inclusion for staff.
  • Promote health, safety and well-being among members of the Sargent Community.

Nomination Process

Sargent staff are invited to complete a self-nomination form and upload a personal statement and headshot to express their interest in joining the Staff Council. Nominations for the 2025 Staff Council are now closed. Nominations will open again in the fall of 2025 for the 2026 Staff Council.
