Iffland Publishes Double Volume on Roque Dalton

James Iffland, professor of Spanish, is enjoying a well-deserved leave this term after publishing a monumental two-volume work on the literary work of Salvadoran writer Roque Dalton, Para llegar a Roque Dalton: pequeños infiernos y otros paraísos, which was presented this summer with much fanfare in El Salvador. Iffland’s words at the book launching, in the presence of Dalton’s son and widow and a host of authorities from the government and University, can be found here. David Hernández, who received special thanks for publishing the book at the University of El Salvador, praises Iffland for his meticulous detective work, “with the precision of a jeweler-watchmaker, and the critical eye of a specialist in the leading figures of world literature—Quevedo, Cervantes, and, in this case, our classic Roque Dalton.”
