Datel & Bobroff Present on Alternative Grading

On Friday, January 26, María Datel and Maria Bobroff presented at a virtual conference organized by the Center for Languages and Cultures at the University of Southern California, “Grading Less – Learning More through Ungrading in World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.” Their presentations were entitled, “Utilizing Self-Assessment and Rubrics in Student-Led Interviews” and “Specs Grading and Task-based assessments in Fourth-Semester French,” respectively. Datel and Bobroff each addressed how moving away from traditional grades has allowed their students to focus on learning, emphasizing the importance of student involvement in the assessment process.
