O’Connor to Join Romance Studies

Photo of Carrie O'ConnorThe Romance Studies Department welcomes Dr. Carrie O’Connor as a new Lecturer in French. Dr. O’Connor has taught for us in a part-time capacity for the past two years, but beginning in fall 2019 will become a full-time member of our faculty.

Carrie is looking forward to her new role, telling us “I am enthusiastic about opportunities to connect students in Romance Studies to French on a personal and practical level. We have such a talented and diverse group of students at BU and I’m excited to join a team of faculty who cares so much about them!”

O’Connor earned a BA in French and a BS in Accounting and Information Systems, with a concentration in Global Business, from Virginia Tech. She then continued her studies of French language and literature in Vermont and Paris, France, where she completed an MA in French from Middlebury College. After working for two years at a student exchange organization in Washington, DC, she moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in order to pursue a PhD in French Studies at Louisiana State University (LSU), focusing on nineteenth-century French literature. Her dissertation, exploring literary adaptations of Ovid’s Pygmalion myth from the late eighteenth- through late nineteenth-centuries, culminated her degree.
