All-University Commencement
From Dr. Jean Morrison, University Provost and Chief Academic Officer
As we pass the halfway point of this spring semester, it is my pleasure to extend to you an invitation to join our 2021 graduates at BU’s All-University Commencement ceremony at Nickerson Field on Sunday, May 16, at 1 pm. As President Brown noted in his letter earlier this month to students, this year’s event will be understandably different from those of previous years, as we balance the desire to celebrate our talented graduates’ accomplishments with the need to carefully follow public health protocols. This includes limiting in-person attendance to graduating students, members of faculty and administration, and those actively participating in the event. We are working to provide virtual access to the ceremony to family and friends.
Faculty involvement has always been critical to the success of All-University Commencement and is greatly appreciated by our graduates and their loved ones. If you would like to be a part of this year’s celebration, we ask that you please register online for commencement as soon as possible.
Space for faculty at the event will be limited to about 40 seats and will be assigned “first come, first serve” through the website. Advance registration is required in order to attend. Once you’ve registered to attend, you will receive additional information about the logistics of the day. In the event you try to sign up and there are no spaces left, you will be placed on a waitlist and contacted if a space opens up.
I know what an extraordinary year this has been and want to again thank you for your hard work, sacrifice, and commitment to your students and colleagues. The occasion of this year’s Commencement will be especially meaningful for the Boston University community, and I hope that you will consider participating.
