M.A. Student; Preservation Studies, Museum Practice Concentration

Yanjun Hong holds a Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Hospitality Management from the Northern Arizona University and Shanghai Business School. Yanjun comes from Shanghai on China’s east coast at the southern estuary of the Yangtze river. Shanghai is the country’s biggest city and its  economic center, and has a rich cultural heritage. She embarks at Boston University on her journey to pursue her dream in Preservation Studies with a Museum Practice Concentration. Yanjun has been motivated to enter the preservation field by her passion for the UNESCO World Heritage listed Mogoa Caves at Dunhuang in the Gansu Province and along the ancient Silk Road, which are famous for their Buddhist murals. She is eager to learn how to integrate mural preservation with interpretation and exhibitions and aims to contribute to presenting this exquisite artistic treasure to the public in contemporary ways.
