About Our Community
Women in Physics (WIP) is an organization that promotes the progress and success of female physicists. Our goals include highlighting the achievements of women physicists, strengthening relations among physicists and other scientists, and educating the physics community on issues relevant to women physicists.
The purpose of this organization is to foster a stronger and more diverse physics community. Specifically, we aim to:
- Highlight the achievements of successful women physicists,
- Educate the physics community on issues relevant to women physicists in order to encourage a diverse and supportive work environment (both in the Boston University Physics Department, as well as the future workplaces of our graduates),
- Strengthen relationships among physicists and other scientists through social gathering, mentoring, and outreach,
- Support ARROWS (Advance, Recruit, Retain, and Organize Women in STEM) in their stated purpose.
