Hu’s research plan is to use pump-probe techniques to investigate, control and discover novel quantum phases, including 1) transient disentangling competing/coexisting orders in correlated electron systems; 2) ultrafast manipulating topological phases in Weyl semimetals; and 3) optically accessing and dynamical control low-dimensional materials. These research projects will lead to the development of new ultrafast spectroscopy techniques, and initiate a broader research program on quantum materials control.
