Dr. Basu’s present and past research include studying the environmental degradation and characterization of materials, metals, and minerals, such as solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), as well as the study of optical fibers for mid-IR transmission, wide bandgap materials for solid state lighting, thermal barrier and environmental barrier coatings for gas turbine applications, nanostructures in rare-earth doped silicon, and more.
