As the director of Boston University’s Neurophotonics Center, as well as a professor of biomedical engineering, Dr. Boas has developed many new, high-impact, biomedical optical technologies in the neuroscience field, in addition to plentiful research on the subject. Further topics of interest include functional near-infrared spectroscopy, biomedical optics, oxygen delivery and consumption, neuro-vascular coupling, and physiological modeling
