Are you a rising college senior looking to PURSuE doctoral research in Photonics at Boston University?

The Photonics Undergraduate Research Summer Experience (PURSuE) program at Boston University is a 10-week REU program (6/2/24 – 8/10/24) for students who are interested in pursuing doctoral research related to photonics. The program is run with several other REU programs and includes mentoring and professional development as well as laboratory research. The PURSuE REU program is for rising seniors with some photonics experience, who seek an introduction to graduate research opportunities at BU.

PURSuE participants:

• Receive a $7,000 stipend plus travel and housing for on-campus participation.
• Engage in active research at a BU Photonics Center lab in research areas including but not limited to biophotonics, nanophotonics, photonic materials and devices, neurophotonics, and lasers, nonlinear optics, and quantum photonics. PURSuE participants will identify the faculty they are most interested in working with and will be placed in one of their top choice labs for the summer.
• Are eligible for a preferential PhD application process at BU for Fall 2025 matriculation.
• Will be considered for prestigious Photonics Fellowships for BU doctoral support.
