BU Biotech Club - Deadline for Pitch Competition Sign Ups!

The BU Biotech Club’s 2026 Pitch Competition is an opportunity for graduate students across Boston University to learn and practice investor-facing pitch presentation skills.

You are NOT required to have an actual start-up or venture to participate. Instead, participants are encouraged to adapt their research findings and explore potential commercial or translational next steps.

This is a beginner-friendly event designed to provide valuable experience in thinking about entrepreneurship and presenting scientific ideas in an investor setting. Most participants will likely be exploring commercialization for the first time, and research at any stage, even work far from direct commercialization, is welcome.

The competition includes the following events:

- Pitch Deck Info Session - April 14 (Virtual, 6 PM EST): An introductory session led by our judges, providing key guidance on how to structure and develop an effective pitch deck.

- Pitch Deck Evaluation — April 20-24 (Optional): Participants are encouraged to schedule 1-on-1 sessions with our judges to receive constructive feedback on their pitch decks to help refine and strengthen their presentations before the final event.

- Pitch Presentation — April 30: The final round, where participants will present their pitches as if delivering them to potential investors.

These events will be judged by Dr. Robert (Bob) Garces and Dr. Shoshana Das, both of whom previously pursued doctoral training and have since worked in biotech and life science commercialization. They will provide valuable insight and guidance throughout the competition.

The deadline for this application is April 17th, 11:59 PM. All applications must be submitted before this deadline to participate in the pitch competition.
