- Starts: 5:30 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026
- Ends: 6:45 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026
Join us for this compelling event in the BUSSW Speakers Series featuring Cecilia Guerrero, chair of A Luta Sigue, a movement incubator dedicated to supporting the creation and development of autonomous power-building projects and campaigns led by working-class leaders and youth in Tennessee. Since A Luta Sigue was founded, the organization has supported the development of three main projects: 1) The Tennessee Drivers Union, which is the largest Uber/Lyft rideshare union in the South, representing over 400 rideshare drivers from over a dozen nationalities; 2) Poder Popular; an organization representing over 600 immigrant families with ties to the construction, manufacturing and hospitality industries; and 3) The Southern Youth Solidarity Network, a youth-led organization aiming to bring young people into the working-class movement. This talk will highlight the importance of class-based organizing, including an emphasis on class interests, class politics, and organizing any issue within a capitalist structure.
