Next Pardee Seminar (Oct. 18): Invasive Species and Future Ecologies

Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future will hold a Pardee House Seminar on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, on ‘Invasive Species and Future Ecologies: Bugs, Viruses, Mussels and Weeds’. The seminar will feature Prof. Les Kaufman (BU Marine Program and Conservation International), Prof. Richard Pollack (BU Department of Biology) and Prof. Richard Primack (BU Department of Biology). The seminar will be moderated by Prof. James McCann, Director of the Pardee Center.

The Seminar will be held on Tuesday, Oct 18, 2011 (lunch will be available from 11.30am, seminar starts at 12.00pm).Please RSVP to pardee@bu.edu by Thursday, October 13, 2011. Seating is limited to 30 participants.

Prof. Les Kaufman is Professor of Biology at Boston University. He is also Professor in the BU Marine Program (BUMP). In addition to being a member of the BU faculty, Kaufman is Senior Marine Scientist for Conservation International, a Research Scholar with The New England Aquarium and Associate in Ichthyology, Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology.

Prof. Richard Pollack is Research Associate Professor at Boston University and President at IdentifyUS LLC. He is also the chair of the Mosquito Advisory Group at the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Research.

Prof. Richard Primack is Professor of Biology at Boston University. He is currently studying the impact of climate change on the flowering times of plants and the spring arrival of birds in Massachusetts, Japan, and South Korea.

The Pardee Seminar Series focuses on a variety of issues and invites experts from different disciplines to discuss the long-range challenges and trends in that particular issue.

The Seminar will be held at Pardee House (67 Bay State Road, Boston) on Tuesday, October 18, 2011. A light lunch will be available from 11.30am, and the seminar itself will start at noon. Please RSVP to pardee@bu.edu by Thursday, October 13, 2011. Seating is limited to 30 participants.
