Pardee Center Welcomes Bangladeshi Delegation for Discussion on 21st Century Challenges in the Indo-Pacific

On October 1, 2024, the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future welcomed a delegation of scholars and policymakers from Bangladesh for a conversation on addressing 21st century global challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. The delegation met with Amb. Jorge Heine (Research Professor; Pardee Center Interim Director), Min Ye (Professor, International Relations), and Robert Hefner (Professor, Anthropology and International Relations; Director, Center for the Study of Asia).

The delegation was invited to the United States under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and the meeting was organized in partnership with WorldBoston.

The discussion, led by Amb. Heine, examined the geopolitical implications of relabeling the “Asia-Pacific” region as the “Indo-Pacific,” particularly with respect to security and trade throughout the region and beyond.

The meeting was the third in a series of discussions with IVLP delegations led by Amb. Heine this year, including a conversation with a delegation from Mozambique in April and with a delegation from Spain in July, both of which were also arranged in partnership with WorldBoston.
