Faculty Research Fellow Cathal Nolan Joins Quincy Institute as Non-Resident Fellow
Cathal J. Nolan, a Professor of History, Director of the Pardee Center’s International History Institute (IHI), and a Pardee Center Faculty Research Fellow, has joined the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft as one of ten new Non-Resident Fellows.
The Quincy Institute’s Non-Resident Fellows program connects scholars, practitioners, advocates, and journalists from around the country and gives them a platform in Washington to help advance the organization’s mission of promoting military restraint and vigorous diplomacy in U.S. foreign policy.
“We’re thrilled to welcome this talented new group of scholars to the QI team,” said Quincy Institute Executive Vice President Trita Parsi. “[T]heir contributions will be immensely helpful to our mission of moving U.S. foreign policy away from endless war and toward vigorous diplomacy in pursuit of peace.”
As Director of IHI, which was founded within BU’s College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) in 1999 and established an affiliation with the Pardee Center in 2021, Prof. Nolan has worked to promote the importance of history in understanding international cultural, economic, political, and military affairs. As Pardee Center Faculty Research Fellows, he and Prof. Erik Goldstein are convening a conference in the spring of 2023 exploring how the transition is made from active war to peace talks and what history teaches us about “getting to peace.”
