On August 19, the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future hosted a webinar on our YouTube channel titled “Being Well & Staying Safe: Daily Life in a COVID-19 World.”

The webinar, hosted by Pardee School of Global Studies Dean Adil Najam, featured a panel of infectious diseases experts including Nahid Bhadelia (Associate Professor, Medicine/Infectious Diseases, BU School of Medicine), Davidson Hamer (Professor, Global Health & Medicine, BU School of Public Health & BU School of Medicine), and Gerald T. Keusch (Professor, Medicine & International Health, BU School of Medicine & BU School of Public Health).

The discussion was, in many ways, a follow-up to a Pardee Center webinar in April with the same group of panelists, during which they largely discussed the global implications of the COVID-19 pandemic and how the future of infectious disease research and response will change as a result.

In this webinar, the wide-ranging discussion touched on the timeline and implications of potential COVID-19 vaccines, the impact of science communication and education on controlling the spread of the disease, and the actions that people can and should take to minimize risk in their daily lives, among other topics.
