Janetos Teaching Course on Environmental Scientific Assessments this Fall
Anthony Janetos, the Director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, will teach a graduate level course this fall titled “Scientific Assessments of Environmental Issues: Process and Evaluation.”
Drawing on his wealth of experience serving on several national and international study teams, including the U.S. National Climate Assessment (NCA) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Prof. Janetos will explore the history, practice, and evaluation of scientific assessments on a range of environmental issues, including stratospheric ozone depletion, climate change, and biodiversity. The assessments will be examined through a science communication lens, and the reasonsĀ for their success or failure will be discussed.
The course is cross-listed as GRS GE 710 and GRS IR 728, and will meet Wednesdays from 2:30 to 5:15 pm.
