Pardee Post-Doctoral Fellow Suranjana Nabar-Bhaduri Authors Blog Post
Pardee Center Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Suranjana Nabar-Bhaduri authored a guest-blog piece in Triple Crisis, Global Perspectives on Finance Development, and Environment, titled, No Magic Wand: Liberalization and Structural Transformation in India. The piece touches some of the same themes in her recent Pardee Issues in Brief publication, Free Trade and Inclusive Development: Lessons from the Indian Experience, namely the effects of liberalization on the Indian economy. Nabar-Bhaduri argues liberalization by itself did not result in growth of industry and trade in India, and that government industrial and employment policies must complement liberalization to achieve economic growth.
