Kevin Gallagher writes op-ed on Capital Controls in the Financial Times
Pardee Faculty Fellow Kevin Gallagher has an op-ed featured in the Financial Times today.
In the piece, ‘Capital controls are not beggar they neighbor,’ Dr. Gallagher examines the effect countries with capital controls have on nearby nations.
The countries concerned are faced with unstable capital flows in the wake of the financial crisis. Many of these countries are resorting to capital controls to prevent bubbles and high exchange rate. Though the International Monetary Fund by in large supports capital controls, in this piece Dr. Gallagher questions that philosophy.
