Ulrike Heine, Ph.D. student from Justus Liebig University, Gießen/Germany and Visiting Scholar at the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, presented at Brandeis University on September 19, 2011.

Invited by Sabine von Mering, Director of the Center for German and European Studies, she presented to students and faculty on “Photography and Climate Change“.

In her presentation, Ulrike Heine highlighted that art photographers as well as photojournalists have shaped the global climate change discourse visually by producing rich photographic imagery. These images, however, remain ambiguous as meanings and messages shift according to differing textual frames.
