Prof. Najam Speaks at CSCA Convention in Canada

Prof. Adil Najam, the Director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future and Boston University Professor of International Relations and Geography and Environment was a keynote speaker at the 2010 Convention of the Canadian Special Crops Association (CSCA) held in Saskatoon, Canada. The CSCA Convention brought together over 300 growers, food product producers and traders of spcial crops (pulses, peas, etc.) from 21 countries together on the Convention theme of “Providing Solutions for Healthy People and a Healthy Planet.” Prof. Najam’s address to the convention focused on the emerging issues related to agriculture and climate change, particularly in relation to climate adaptation and the role that agriculture is likely to play in that.
The Canadian Special Crops Association (CSCA) represents exporters, dealers, brokers and processors involved in the industry of trading Canada’s special crops: dried peas, lentils, mustard seed, canary seed, dried beans, chickpeas, faba beans, sunflower seeds, and buckwheat. The CSCA is also a founding member of Pulse Canada. The CSCA annual convention is the largest event in North America for traders, exporters, processors and producers of pulse and special crops and attracts over 300 delegates from around the world each year. The Convention was also addressed by Canada’s Minister of Agriculture.
