BU to Host Conference on the Future of Global Health
The Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) Commission on Smart Global Health Policy, Boston University, and Harvard University, will host a conference on the future of global health featuring Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Boston University President Robert Brown, as well as top academics and student activists from the Boston area. The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future and the Boston Univeristy Center for Global Health and Development are co-sponsors of the BU meeting, which will be held at the BU Metcalf Trustees Ballroom on Monday April 26, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
The meeting will be introduced by Prof. Gerald Keusch, Professor of International Health at Boston University, and Pardee Center Director, Prof. Adil Najam, will moderate the second panel on “New England’s Strategic Advantage – Research and Innovation” which will include Representative Michael Capuano (MA-D), President Robert Brown of Boston University, Provost Steve Hyman of Harvard University, Phil Dormitzer of Novartis, and James Geraghty of Genzyme. This is the second of a series of discussions being held around the country in conjunction with the release of the CSIS Commission on Smart Global Health Policy’s final report, A Healthier, Safer, and More Prosperous World. The recommendations brought forth in the report will be presented to the Obama administration and U.S. Congress this spring.
