Prof. Selin Talks to Science Journalists

Prof. Henrik Selin, Pardee Center Faculty Fellow and Assistant Professor of International Relations at Boston University, spoke to science journalists from across the United States and Canada on issues related to the global management of hazardous wastes. The Seminar, held on March 31, 2010, was organized for science journalists by the Metcalf Institute for Marine and Environmental Reporting at Brown University. The title of the seminar was “Waiter, there’s a phthalate in my soup! Reporting on the Science and Impacts of Toxic Chemicals.”
Prof. Selin, who had earlier authored a Pardee Paper on the longer-range challenges of managing hazardous chemicals spoke to the journalists about the need for moving from a reactionary to a precautionary approach in the management of societal risks.
