Pardee Director Speaks to Dutch Bankers on Sustainability

Prof. Adil Najam, Director of the Boston University Frederick S. Pardee Center on the Longer-Range Future, spent a day with senior executives from the global bank Rabobank (headquartered in the Netherlands) discussing current and future challenges related to global sustainability, including those related to global climate change.

The briefing was organized by the Dutch Business School, Tias Nimbus, and held in St Michielsgestel, the Netherlands.

Rabobank Group is a full-range financial services provider founded on cooperative principles. the bank is a global leader in Food and Agricultural financing and in sustainability-oriented banking. The Group comprises 153 independent local Dutch Rabobanks, a central organisation (Rabobank Nederland), and a large number of specialised international offices and subsidiaries. In his briefing to the bankers from Rabobank’s global operations, Prof. Najam highlighted the importance of longer-range thinking, introduced them to the research happening at the Boston University Pardee Center, and then focussed on the key longer-range challenges of global sustainability, especially in the context of the food and agricultural sector.
