Prof. Adil Najam Speaks at University of Virginia

Pardee Center Director, Prof. Adil Najam, was the keynote speaker at a University of Virginia Symposium on "Climate Change and Health."

In his keynote presentation Prof. Najam highlighted the linkages between health and climate change but, more broadly, between a host of related development issues. He argued that the nature of the great challenges facing humanity today – including, but not limited to, health and climate change – demand that we take a longer-range perspective on these challenges and adopt interdisciplinary approaches to solve what are often global and multi-generational problems.

The symposium explored linkages between the fields of climate change and health to investigate ways to foster greater connections at the academic, community and global scales. Through panel presentations and facilitated discussions, workshop participants discussed emerging issues related to climate change and health within the fields of planning, landscape design, environmental science, public health, public policy, engineering, law and business.
