Intent to Graduate

If you intend to graduate during the next 12 months (September, January, or May), please fill out the CAS Intent to Graduate Form found here.

Why do I need to fill out the intent to graduate form?

Not everyone completes college in the same timeline, so filling out this form lets both the Neuroscience program and the College of Arts & Sciences know that you are planning to graduate during a particular semester. This means that you will be assigned a graduation advisor from the CAS Advising Office to look over your degree requirements and ensure you are on track to graduate (as well as make any updates to your degree advice report for classes that may be showing up in the wrong place). This also lets your Neuroscience advisor know your plan by updating your graduation status on your Degree Advice Report.

Another benefit to applying to graduate is that you are included on communications about the printing of degrees, commencement and convocation events, and anything else specific to graduating students.

What if I’m not sure when exactly I’m going to graduate?

If you are getting close and say are just considering whether you’ll graduate a semester sooner than expected, for example in January or wondering if you should push off a class until summer and graduate in September, we recommend you still apply to whatever time period you think is most likely. If you end up deciding to change your graduation date after submitting the form, you should email your CAS Graduation Advisor with your BU ID# and new desired graduation date so they can update it.

If you have any questions about your graduation date, feel free to reach out to your graduation advisor or neuroscience advisor.
