CMTM Student Seed Grant Program

Overview

The BU Center for Multiscale and Translational Mechanobiology student seed grant program was established during the fall semester of 2023 with the intention of stimulating innovative research in mechanobiology.  Proposed projects should focus on one or more of the following areas:

  • The continuation of projects identified during the summer exchange program
  • Research in mechanobiology that spans and integrates multiple length scales and/or multiple time scales
  • Translational research driven by mechanobiology principles
  • Research that develops and/or heavily uses mathematical modeling to help understand and predict mechanobiological phenomena

Funds must be used to accomplish specific research tasks and can be used to support supplies and/or equipment.  Applicants may request up to $5,000 total award amount.  Priority is given to trainees and labs that participated in the yearly CMTM Summer Exchange Program, although all are encouraged to apply.  Collaborative proposals between multiple labs encouraged.

The Center awarded three pilot grants the inaugural year, and plans to fund additional projects yearly.  Click on the links below for yearly application processes and award winners.
