CMTM FY24 Student Seed Grant Program

Eligibility

All full-time trainees (postdoctoral associates, undergraduate & graduate students) associated with the Center for Multiscale and Translational Mechanobiology (CMTM) at Boston University are invited to apply.

Priority will be given to trainees and labs that participated in the CMTM 2023 Summer Exchange Program, although all are encouraged to apply.  Collaborative proposals between multiple labs encouraged.

Award Mechanism

The CMTM student seed grants are intended to stimulate innovative research in mechanobiology.  Proposed projects should have a focus on one or more of the following areas:

  • The continuation of projects identified during the summer exchange program
  • Research in mechanobiology that spans and integrates multiple length scales and/or multiple time scales
  • Translational research driven by mechanobiology principles
  • Research that develops and/or heavily uses mathematical modeling to help understand and predict mechanobiological phenomena

Funds must be used to accomplish specific research tasks and can be used to support supplies and/or equipment.  Applicants may request up to $5,000 total award amount, and all funds must be expended by May 31, 2024.  The Center expects to award up to four student seed grants this fiscal year, FY 2024.

Applications are due Wednesday, October 31, 2023 by 5 p.m., and must be submitted through the CMTM website.
