Pre-doctoral Training Program
The Center will create a pre-doctoral training program to increase the size and strength of the pool of scientists studying mechanobiology. This program will draw heavily upon existing courses and programming in the engineering disciplines, biology, chemistry, physics, and rehabilitation sciences, on both campuses. New courses may be considered as well. A key component of this training program will be explicit exposure of students to multiple subdisciplines within mechanobiology, such as through laboratory rotations in the first year. A moderate-term goal of this program will be to obtain an NIH or NSF training grant in multiscale and translational mechanobiology.
