Policy Manager, Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts

The Policy Manager plays an integral role in PPAF’s legislative and electoral programs, serving as a lobbyist on Beacon Hill and assisting with the organization’s endorsement program.  This position is key to fostering and ensuring alignment between PPAF’s electoral programs and legislative advocacy.  Under the direction of the Associate Director of Public Policy and Government Affairs, the Policy Manager seeks to advance PPAF’s legislative agenda on Beacon Hill and at City Hall, forming strategic relationships with influential elected leaders and their staff.  The Policy Manager will work under the direction of the Associate Director of Public Policy and Government Affairs and in partnership with the Organizing Manager to maintain and implement the organization’s endorsement program.  This person is an effective communicator who can represent PPLM at the highest levels either alone or as part of a team.

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Public Policy and Government Affairs, the Policy Manager seeks to advance PPAF’s legislative agenda on Beacon Hill and at key municipalities throughout the Commonwealth, forming strategic relationships with influential elected leaders and their staff.  The policy manager assists with legislative and budget advocacy, including attending Coalition meetings, monitoring and tracking bills and drafting testimony.

The manager assists the Assistant Director of Policy and Government Affairs and the Organizing Manager in developing strategies for PPAF’s endorsement program and creating policies and criteria in advance of each election cycle.  Throughout the endorsement process – from dissemination of questionnaires to the completion of interviews – the manager works closely with municipal and state-level candidates providing them messaging resources and information about Planned Parenthood’s advocacy, education and health services programs.  The manager is responsible for tracking and monitoring all endorsed races.  The manager works in partnership with the Organizing Manager and the Organizers to evaluate and make recommendations for all races under PPAF consideration.
