On Wednesday, December 4, the BU Libraries exhibition Renaming Myles Standish Hall will be on display at BU Diversity & Inclusion’s latest Learn More Series event.

During the event, What’s In a Name? Renaming Myles Standish Hall, panelists Kimberly Howard (Wheelock College of Education & Human Development), Anna Ward (Wheelock College), Thomas Green (Massachusett Tribe at Ponkapoag), Jacob Leal (School of Theology), and Travis Franks (Utah State University) will reflect on the challenges and advocacy of removing the Myles Standish name from a BU residence hall. Moderator Laura Jimenez (Wheelock College) will engage the audience in a conversation on the next steps in their advocacy and what attendees can do to support efforts to make BU a more inclusive University for Native American and Indigenous community members.

Attendees will be able to explore the BU Libraries exhibition, which looks at what we know about the building at 610 Beacon Street as a hotel, a dormitory, and its place at BU. The materials on display, including rare books, archival photographs, newsletters, correspondence, and ephemera, are part of the university archives held in the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center.

Mugar open 24 hours with overnight shuttle for study period and finals

Memorial Library will be open 24 hours per day beginning on Tuesday, December 10th at 7 a.m. until Friday, December 20th 2024, at 5 p.m. View all library and service hours. 

In addition to providing 24-hour study space, the BU Libraries will also partner with Student Wellbeing to host periodic Play Stations at Mugar, where students can play board games, color, and participate in other stress-relieving activities.

The Libraries will provide a late-night campus shuttle for students between midnight – 6 a.m. during this period.  The shuttle will depart from Mugar Memorial Library every 30 minutes and follow this route:

3. StuVi 2 – 33 Harry Agganis Way
4. Rich Hall – 277 Babcock Street
5. 1019 Comm Ave

8. Danielsen Hall – 512 Beacon St.
9. Myles Standish & Kilachand Hall – Bay State Road & Raleigh St.
10. The Towers – Bay State Road & Silber Way
11. Warren Towers- Commonwealth Ave. & Granby St.

Students must show a BU ID to use the shuttle.

BU Libraries other branches will operate on their regular hours during finals.

New BU Libraries Workshop Series!

Get Organized

Use a citation manager to make citing, storing, and organizing references easy. Citation managers, also called reference managers, save your references to books, articles, movies, and other sources in one place, and help you organize those references as you find them. Citation mangers can format bibliographies in multiple citation styles, insert in-text citations into the body of a document, and share references with others.
