Study abroad in Latin America for at least a semester is strongly encouraged by all Latin American Studies students. Courses in all of these programs count toward Latin American Studies Studies major requirements.
The summer Argentina Cultural Studies Program immerses both undergraduates and graduate students in Latin American studies, with courses focusing on Argentine culture, journalism, politics, literature, and recent literary and intellectual developments. Classes take place at the Universidad de Palermo in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s intellectual and cultural capital. Students also have the option to do an internship in a cultural organization, an NGO, or in the areas of journalism and communications. Students are placed with host families throughout Buenos Aires, and course-related excursions provide students with an opportunity to explore the city’s vibrant cultural scene.
