The Initiative on Cities (IOC) is seeking TWO talented and passionate students to work in our office. As our Office Assistant, you will work closely with the IOC team to support various events, social media initiatives, outreach efforts, and other projects. You will assist our staff with the following:

  • Office logistics, including greeting visitors, creating and maintaining outreach lists
  • Event planning and day-of logistics
  • Primary & secondary research on urban-related issues, including data collection, coding, or other research tools/skills
  • Content creation and hosting, website maintenance, art and graphic design, and blog writing
  • Other work assigned by IOC staff

Requirements & Qualifications

We are looking for students who are generally available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons this Fall semester. Hours can be negotiated and adjusted based on the students’ schedules. We expect a commitment of 6-10 hours per week for the Fall semester, with the option to continue into Spring 2027.

  • Competent in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, independent, and creative
  • Well-versed in social media content creation and management
  • Experience in photography, filming, art, or design is a plus
  • Experience with WordPress and website builders is a plus
  • Passion for urban / city topics, policies, and issues
