Teaching the City

The Initiative on Cities is excited to host Teaching the City as part of its Urban Seminar Series. This conversation with BU faculty and experts will focus on engaging students with Boston.

Urban universities experience all of the benefits and many of the challenges of cities. Teaching about the city seems to be a critical way for universities to help their students build strong and healthy ties to their home cities and to urban centers more generally. Are universities taking advantage of all the opportunities to teach the city? Are there innovative new approaches for turning the city into a classroom?

Join us for a panel discussion featuring Daniel Bluestone (Director of Preservation Studies, BU), Dennis Carlberg (Sustainability Director, BU), Jacey Greece (Clinical Assistant Professor, Community Health Sciences, BU), James Pasto (Senior Lecturer, Arts & Sciences Writing Program, BU), and Madhu Dutta-Koehler (Program Coordinator & Adjunct Professor, City Planning & Urban Affairs, BU).
