BU Hub News: Upcoming Course/Cocurricular Workshops
July 26, 2018:
As we prepare to welcome the Class of 2022, here are some important updates regarding Hub curriculum development:
- The University Council General Education Committee (GEC) has approved 472 courses and cocurricular learning experiences for inclusion in the BU Hub, with over 200 Hub courses available for incoming entering first-year students.
- For AY 2019-2020, the deadline for submitting Hub courses to the GEC is November 15, 2018. Priority areas of development include upper-level/major courses and new, distinctive Hub courses.
- Registration for the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) New Course Development Institute for the BU Hub is now open. This 4-day August workshop (Aug. 13-16) will prepare BU faculty to create new Hub courses by providing them with knowledge, skills, and a supportive community of faculty from across the University. By the end of the institute, instructors will have completed or nearly completed a syllabus for their new BU Hub course. Participation in this workshop is stipended at $3,000; this sum is contingent upon successful submission of the course to the GEC by the faculty member’s school or college. Register by August 7th.
- The CTL is also offering stipended summer and fall workshops for:
- Revising existing courses for the BU Hub
- Developing new Hub cocurricular learning experiences
- Developing courses that address the learning outcomes for the Hub area Digital/Multimedia Expression
