Karen Brouhard, LICSW

Karen Brouhard is a licensed, independent clinical social worker with over twenty years of experience. Since receiving her Master of Social Work from the Smith College School for Social Work in 1989, she has worked in a variety of mental health and medical settings. For ten years, she worked in the interpersonal violence programs at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in a range of clinical, administrative and teaching roles. When she transitioned to private practice in 2003, she was the co-director of the BIDMC Center for Violence Prevention and Recovery and a Lecturer in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She has experience working with parents of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, particularly autism spectrum disorders.  She also has a longstanding interest in mindfulness and has received training in adapting   mindfulness training for the workplace and in using mindfulness based cognitive therapy for depression.


Sarah Henderson, LICSW

Sarah Henderson is a licensed independent clinical social worker who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and yoga Sarah received her Master of Social Work Degree from Simmons in 2002 and has over 16 years of experience providing clinical services in a variety of outpatient settings. Sarah also has a post-graduate certificate in couples counseling and enjoys working with couples as well as families, particularly those struggling with grief, mental illness, and addiction. Sarah has a strong interest in health and wellness and is a certified yoga teacher and enjoys teaching yin and restorative yoga. Her own yoga practice and training are a wonderful complement to her interactive and collaborative counseling style.

Colleen McGuire
Administrative Coordinator

Colleen is the person who answers the phone and email, schedules appointments and works with Faculty and Staff to easily access FSAO services. Before joining BU, Colleen worked for 14 years visiting families with newborns and leading community playgroups. When not at BU, she enjoys art, exploring new places, reading and maxing out her BPL online request queue.
