Continuing Student New Applicants

To be considered for BU scholarship after your first year: 

  • You must have not been eligible to apply for Financial Aid in your first year and have now become eligible,
  • Applied after the financial aid deadline, and were unable to be considered for BU Need-Based Financial Assistance,
  • Or, if you did not apply in your first year or were not eligible for need-based aid, you must explain why and document a change in circumstances since enrolling at BU.

To apply for BU Scholarship as a New Applicant please submit:

  • CSS Profile and FAFSAThe Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to determine eligibility for state and federal grants, scholarships, and loans. The FAFSA can be completed on the Federal Student Aid website. The Boston University FAFSA school code is 002130. for the academic year you are appealing – aid applications submitted for prior years are not sufficient.
  • Federal Tax Returns and W-2s for the tax year used in the CSS Profile and for the year impacted by the change in financial circumstances (if applicable).
  • Please complete the New Applicant Appeal Form.

Please upload the New Applicant Appeal Form and Taxes and Documentation through the BU FA Document Portal.

You can confirm receipt of your appeal by viewing the To-Do list on your MyBU Student Portal. It may take 1-3 days for receipt of your appeal to be processed and your To-Do list to be updated. BU Financial Assistance cannot review appeals submitted without supporting tax documents.

New Applicant appeal requests submitted by email will not be considered.
