Eligibility while Participating in an Experiential Learning Term
Summary:
Students who receive financial assistance and are enrolled in an experiential learning / cooperative program may apply to keep all or a portion of that assistance to help manage their costs for the term.
Federal financial aid awarding policy allows students participating in a co-op or experiential learning program to receive financial assistance during that semester if the work portion of a cooperative education program in which the amount of work performed is equivalent to the academic workload of a full-time student.
To Apply:
Your first step in the application process is to connect with BU Financial Assistance to learn if you may be eligible for financial assistance during your term working in an experiential learning program. Accessing financial assistance while participating in a co-op may impact your overall financial aid eligibility at BU in subsequent terms, so its important to understand that possible impact.
After speaking with a member of our team, your second step will be to complete the form requesting financial aid during your experiential learning term.
The first section of the form must be completed by the student and signed by both the student and their academic advisor. The second section of the form must be completed and signed by the student. Once sections I and II have been completed, the student should upload that to their MyBU Portal along with section III. Section III of the form will be completed by BU Financial Assistance:
